MB Quart at 2018 Chicago Auto Show

In All Events, All News, Mobile Audio by MB Quart

The Auto Show comes through Chicago every year. That is nearly in the backyard of the MB Quart headquarters. Sounds like a great reason to grab a camera and head downtown and join the press core to see what is happening with new cars and trucks – even a few supercars. It’s a lot to take in. It is also a great time to check out what the factories are doing with really great audio. Or, in fact what they are not doing with audio for car buyers.

HIGHLIGHTS

Some highlights for MB Quart this year were the 2018 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon and the new Mercedes AMG GTC. The 2018 Honda Civic TypeR was also a huge crowd draw. All of them are incredible cars but need some serious dramatic audio upgrades. Here’s a quick video walk through some of these highlights with some additional details below.

2018 JEEP WRANGLER RUBICON EDITION

The new Rubicon Edition is really a “ready to hit the dirt” machine. With it’s new suspension design you can even upgrade wheel and tire size without addition suspension or lift components. For audio, the system has a great control center. The Apple Car Play source unit is ready for audio power and sound upgrades with MB Quart amplifiers and speakers.

The MB Quart Shallow subs and IPX rated speakers and compact amplifiers would be a great solution, keeping with the “off road” theme. The stock sound bar can be upgraded with minimal customization to 6.5 component speakers, 6×9 inch or 6×8 inch speakers in the X-Line or Discus line.

NEVER ENOUGH

And for those of you that will NEVER be satisfied with “upgrading the factory” audio system in a Jeep. Check out what Claudia has done with her Jeep. MB Quart compact powersports amplifiers with a host of compression horns, standard speakers and shallow mount subwoofers. If you are a Jeep enthusiast, you need to be following her Instagram feed.

2018 MERCEDES AMG GTC

550 horsepower 4 lilter, V8 Biturbo is a perfect car for the top of the line Z-Line Speakers.Augment the bottom end with a shallow mount subwoofer like the M-Line, or Discus Shallowsubwoofers.

Designed to compete with the Porsche 911 the Mercedes GTC has its engine in the front rather than in the rear. See a full reivew including a FIRST DRIVE on the Mercecdes by Csaba Csere at Car & Driver

2018 HONDA CIVIC TYPE-R

The new Civic Type R is ready to race. Better than that, it’s ready to race in the U.S. This is one of those trim packages like the Nissan Skyline that the Japanese tend to not make the effort for US Homologation. Luckily the Skyline became the GT-R and now, this Civic TypeR will find its way to the South Side of Chicago.

This newest entry into the market has a 2.0 Liter 306 horsepower V-TEC motor, 6 gear “close gear ratio” manual transmission. The new Honda Civic is the perfect platform for the new Formula speakers and amps launched at SEMA 2017, just in time for the US premier of the Type-R.

You may have noticed a theme. Cars that don’t really allow a lot of space to upgrade the bass frequencies in the car. Which of course, requires a subwoofer.

MORE BASS IN A SMALL SPACE

MB Quart shallow mount subwoofers have been a huge success for performance automotive enthusiasts as well as high quality audio designers and installers. The M-Line Subwoofers are the most versatile of the MB Quart line. The models are designed for installations where there is a challenge to fit a subwoofer into a shallow space. Regardless of your installation needs, the M-Line profiles will deliver musical bass frequencies with maxximum power to drive your music. M-Line subwoofers are designed for small sealed enclosures only.

LOW PROFILE

The 12 inch M-Line only needs 3 inches of mounting depth from the edge of the flange. The 10 inch needs less than 3 and the 8 is about the same. Pretty incredible to get this much bass power in such a shallow enclosure.

All MB Quart Shallow Mount Subwoofers all feature:

  • Vented aluminum voice coil formers
  • Edge wound copper wire in DVC configuration
  • Stamp-cast deep drawn steel basket
  • Durable heavy textured powder coat
  • UV rubber surround
  • Thermal formed PP cone & dust cap
  • Works well in sealed and ported applications
